Social JusticeOur curriculum is influenced by Social Justice through storytelling and performance. Students are taught about power, privilege, inequity, struggle, resistance, and justice. Students are challenged to analyze their relationships and ecosystems and how they can create positive change.

Classroom ClimateKapatiran students are taught to build community and to seek understanding. Students are equipped with leadership skills such as public speaking and problem solving to be valuable leaders in their community. Students create their own community agreements focusing on humanization, care, understanding, and support.

Open AccessThe Kapatiran Program provides open access to quality education from different professors, speakers, artists, and community members. Kapatiran students have the opportunity to learn from a wide variety of professionals in different industries and occupations.

Community ConnectionKapatiran students are connected with the Filipin@-American community through outreach with different organizations in and around the Bay Area. Students have the opportunity to learn from community members who serve different areas of the Filipin@-American experience. This exposure enables students to think further than their immediate ecosystems. All Kapatiran members are equipped with the necessary skills become leaders in any space.

The Kapatiran Program helps student in degree and career exploration. Kapatiran students have the counseling support in order to make decisions that will best impact them. In addition, the Kababayan Learning Community and their resources and partnerships is available to Kapatiran students. These services are aimed at getting students to and through college and beyond.

The Kapatiran Program is a rigorous challenge to students; to grow as scholars, leaders, and human beings. Kapatiran students are taught a college curriculum based in skill building and problem solving. Every student is equipped with the necessary skills to be a successful in college and beyond.
